Join us in ending gender-based violence!

Home connects us all, and the importance of having a safe and nurturing home has never been more true than during this pandemic. As we approach the holidays and start planning joyous moments of being at home with family and friends, we hope you keep survivors of gender-based violence in mind.

This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to watch the story of Miss M.K.*, an older survivor participating in our Later in Life program who experienced abuse after moving from Korea to the United States. Through building a trusting relationship with her Advocate, Miyoung Kim, at Womankind, she has charted a path of healing through trauma-informed counseling and dancing. The short video has been interpreted from Korean and narrated by Miyoung.

"When I came to America for the first time, I didn't know anything. I was just following my husband, doing what he told me to do. When I started this journey to getting out of abuse and living my life, that wasn't easy at first. But with the guide of my advocate, she was so kind, so nice. And I could just feel that she put all her effort to help me. And I never felt this feeling that somebody is actually trying their best to support me and my goal of getting out of this situation, and I was really moved."

Womankind has the privilege of walking alongside the 1,700+ survivors that we serve annually on their healing journeys, including Miss M.K.*. For the past 39 years, your generous donations have ensured that women, children, older adults, and everyone who reaches out to us for refuge from unsafe homes, unhealthy relationships, and spaces of violence, have access to free critical services and programs.

This year, we need your help again. Let's jumpstart this season of giving by joining the world in celebrating Giving Tuesday!

We'd love to hear from you! In 10 words or less, tell us: What does home mean to you? You can respond to this email or make a donation and share in "Your Note for the Donor Scroll" field.
